Making a Difference at the Ronald McDonald House

July 31, 2014momstownFamily Life, ParentingNo comments
momstown Edmonton is always looking for ways to give back to the community that supported us for so many years! We were able to bring a fun Daniel Tiger Scavenger hunt to the Ronald McDonald House this summer!

The Ronald McDonald House really is a gift to this community and all of the regions around us. Having a sick child is scary enough but having a sick child in a strange city where you don't have support is terrying. Families across Alberta and neighbouring provinces rely on the house when they need help the most. If you haven't been to the house please call and book a tour, they touch the community in so many ways, it really does have to be seen to truly understand their impact.

momstown Edmonton was lucky to be a part of the Ronald McDonald Block Party and brought a fun Daniel Tiger's Neighbourhood Scavenger hunt. The kids had a blast looking for the items around the block! The Block Party was full of fun activities and really showed how much the community rallies together for in need. We were so happy to be a part of this wonderful day.

There are lots of way to help the Ronald McDonald House continue the amazing work they do:

  • Fundraising – Host a bake sale, bottle drive or a lemonade stand to donate! Ask for donations rather than gifts for Christmas and Birthdays!
  • Home for Dinner – Each and everyday groups come in to cook meals for the guests of the house. We did this a few months ago and it was so rewarding to fill the bellies of families that really deserve a home cooked meal.
  • Special Events – Support the house at their various community events! Simply Supper is helping the Ronald McDonald House all of August! See here how to host a lemonade stand with your kids to help the house!
  • Baking – The guests of the house always welcome baked goods. Better yet, volunteer to come to the house and bake with the kids!
  • Donate Wish List Items – The house relies on donations to help keep the families staying at the House comfortable. Click here for a list of the items the House needs on a regular basis.

Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta depends on more than 80 percent of its funding coming from individuals and corporations in Edmonton and the surrounding communities. Your support is needed to allow Ronald McDonald House to continue to support families when they need it most.
